Presenter:  Chris Stoffel Overvoorde

Chris Stoffel Overvoorde is professor emeritus at Calvin College, Art Dept. and remains active as a designer and landscape painter. He has received many commissions and numerous awards for his work over the years. Chris will use some of his own artwork in his presentations to illustrate the role of the artist as servant in a Christian community. His particular theme of engaging the visual culture is a challenge to the church to use the gifts God gives to develop creative communities of Christian faith and life. Beginning with the Old Testament story of Bezalel and expanding the concept of gifts in the New Testament, Chris will create important conversation  on how the church meaningfully engages our visual culture today.
